Red Dragon Softball Field | Oneonta, NY

HOW IT HAPPENED

Oswego got the offense going in the 2nd inning, driving in 2 runs to take an early lead. Mackenzie Carlson got the scoring started with an RBI single down the right-field line to bring home Molly Reynolds. Kira Wright followed with a single to left field that drove in Carlson, extending the lead to 2–0.

The Lakers added to their advantage in the 3rd inning with a three-run frame. Emma Donnelly created pressure on the bases, stealing second as Reynolds came home on the throw. Later in the inning, Lillian Haggerty lifted a sacrifice fly to center field, allowing Donnelly to score and push the lead to 5–0.

Oneonta closed the gap in the 4th inning, loading the bases with two outs. Kayla Kean drew a walk to force in a run and cut the deficit to 5–1, but Oswego escaped further damage with pitcher Alyssa Budzinski forcing a pop up to end the inning.

The Lakers' defense sealed the win with a standout play from shortstop Delany Wiley, who made a pop-up catch and fired to first base for a game-ending double play. Alyssa Budzinski earned the win with a complete-game performance in the circle, improving to 12-4 on the season.
