Oswego, N.Y. -  The Empire 8 has released the Players of the Week, released on September 28, 2026, for games played from September 21 - September 27. It is the fourth Empire 8 weekly honors release of the 2026-27 season. Sports featured include men's and women's cross country, field hockey, men's golf and women's golf, men's and women's soccer, women's tennis, and women's volleyball.
 
The Lakers own Tyce Helmick was named Co-Athlete of the Week for Men's Golf.
 
Tyce Helmick earned first place this weekend with teo great rounds. On Saturday, in round 1, after opening with a bogie, Helmick earned a birdie on the par 5 14^th to finish even on the day. Heading into day 2, he was looking to make a push for first place and he did just that. Helmick carded a birdied on the par 4 11^th and par 4 16^th before finishing even for the second day in a row and being crowned individual champion of the Oswego State Fall Invite.
 
The Lakers will have a short break before heading to the Empire 8 Fall Championships in Cicero, NY starting on October 11^th.
