Oswego State has named Mike Montagna of the men's ice hockey team as one of its Athletes of the Week for the week ending January 5, 2014.

Montagna earned Most Valuable Player honors in the PathFinder Bank/Oswego State Hockey Classic after the Lakers won its second-straight championship over Utica College on Saturday night.

The junior scored the first goal for Oswego in the shootout before senior captain David Titanic sealed the win with a goal on the Lakers' third attempt. 

Montagna also had an assist in regulation of the championship game and scored a goal in the opening round 3-0 win over Curry College. 

The Fulton native now has three goals and seven assists on the season. 

Oswego won't celebrate the championship too long as it hits the ice again at 7 p.m. on Tuesday when Connecticut College comes to the Campus Center.
