OSWEGO, N.Y. - Walter Sampson of the men's basketball team has been named the OSwego State Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending on January 11, 2015.

Walters efforts in the backcourt helped Oswego defeat Cortland on Friday, maintaining the team's perfect record in the SUNYAC and pushing them to the top of the standings.

The Binghamton native was two points shy of a career record, knocking in 18 points against the Red Dragons. Sampson shot 75% from the field (6-8) and went 5-6 from the charity stripe as well. The junior also led the team in assists (5) and steals (2).

In Oswego's double overtime win against Oneonta on Tuesday, Walter chipped in with six points.

Men's basketball will be back in the gym for a 5:30 p.m. game on Friday at Brockport.
