Mykelle Krecko of the men’s basketball team was named Oswego State Male Athlete of the Week for the week of Nov. 20.
Krecko helped lead the Lakers to a 2-1 week overall, which included a tourney win in the 2016 Max Ziel Tournament. On Tuesday, against Nazareth, Krecko recorded 11 rebounds, while tallying three points and three blocks.
In Friday’s 104-69 win over Maritime College, the Peekskill, N.Y. native added six more rebounds and three blocks. He also added five points on 2-of-3 shooting from the field. Krecko continued to dominate defensively and even provided a strong offensive outing as well in the tournament championship game against SUNY Canton.
The senior center, cleared a career-high 14 boards, while turning away seven shots in the 83-75 win. Krecko completed the day with a double-double as he downed 6-of-10 shots for 13 points.
Over the course of the week, Krecko totalled 31 rebounds, 21 points and 13 blocks.
Men’s basketball returns to action at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday for a nonconference game against Clarkson University
