OSWEGO, N.Y. - Brandan Gartland of the men’s basketball team has been named the Oswego State Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending on Jan 28. Gartland put up career-high numbers in the Lakers’ two conference games over the weekend.
The sophomore provided the offensive spark first during Friday evening’s game against Geneseo, marking an efficient 7-11 from the floor including 6-8 from deep. During this contest, Gartland scored a team-high 25 points, while also contributing three steals. Gartland’s offensive production in this game would allow Oswego to be in position to win the thriller. A tipped inbound pass the length of the court resulted in a buzzer-beating layup for Ian Schupp and the Lakers.
Turning over to the next day, Oswego would face Brockport in another SUNYAC road matchup. The Webster native would lead Oswego again in total points with 20, going a perfect 5-for-5 from beyond the arc.
Gartland and Oswego next tip-off at 7:30 p.m. on Friday against Plattsburgh on the road, looking to grab their tenth win of the season.
