OSWEGO, N.Y. – Elianna Sanchez – of the women’s lacrosse team – was named Oswego State Female Athlete of the week for the week ending Mar. 3.
In her first career start as a Laker, Sanchez recorded 24 saves in the teams’ 16-14 victory over Clarkson University. In a single game, this is the second highest save total in Oswego State history, behind Kathleen Ward’s 26 in 2002.
The Queens, N.Y. native had a save percentage of .632 and collected six ground balls. The highest save percentage by a Laker throughout an entire season was .659, recorded by Chris Moody in 1996.
Sanchez will look to continue her hot start in net when Oswego hosts St. Lawrence on Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Laker Turf Stadium.
