OSWEGO, N.Y. – Carly Vreugde – of the women’s track and field team – was named Oswego State Female Athlete of the week for the week ending April 28.

The junior was victorious in the 400 meter dash at the St John Fisher Cardinal Classic on Saturday with a time of 58.38 seconds. This is her second victory in the 400-meter this season, with her first coming at the Hamilton College Continental Invitational on April 6.

The Lake George, N.Y. native’s mark in Saturday's 400 meter was the third fastest time in Oswego State track and field history; a record Vreugde set last May (57.48 seconds). She also holds the record in the outdoor 200 meter dash (25.62 seconds), as well as school records in the 200 meter dash (26.14 seconds) and the 400 meter dash (58.06 seconds) for indoor competition.

The Lakers gear up for the SUNYAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships next weekend at Brockport, beginning at 3 p.m. on Friday.
