OSWEGO, N.Y. – Alex Herringshaw of the wrestling team has been named the Oswego State Male of the Week for the week ending Jan. 14.
Herringshaw was a force to be reckoned with at the Budd Whitehill Division III Duals over the weekend. First, Herringshaw earned a crucial 16-0 technical fall at 165 to help Oswego to a 21-17 win over No. 18 Wesleyan. In Oswego's second match of the day, the sophomore picked up four team points for his team with a major decision (14-3) over his opponent. In the Lakers' final competition on Friday, a 28-17 win over Ohio Northern University, Herringshaw collected his third victory of the day when he won by a 6-2 decision.
The Holland Patent native followed up with his fourth win of the weekend on Saturday with a technical fall against his Springfield opponent. For his undefeated performance, Herringshaw was named to the All-Tournament team.
Herringshaw and the wrestling team return to action at 7 p.m. on Wednesday when they host Brockport.
