Oswego, N.Y. - Freshman Charlie Grygas - of the wrestling  team - has been named the Oswego State Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending January 19.

Grygas earned the Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference (ECWC) title at 165 in helping the Lakers to a second-place team finish.  Grygas started the day with the top seed and a bye, before scoring a major decision (14-4) over Sam Grey of Brockport.  He earned a 10-5 decision in the semifinal before a pin of Thomas Marrone of Oneonta in the final.

The Delanson native improved his record to 20-5 in his rookie campaign, including going 8-0 over the last two weekends of action.

Grygas and the wrestling team return to action at 12 p.m. on Saturday as they host Castleton and Brockport in a tri-match.
