Tracy Bruno was hired as Oswego State women's basketball coach in the summer of 2007.

In 2012-13, Bruno led the Lakers to a 18-9 overall record and an 11-7 SUNYAC record to earn their 12th straight trip to the SUNYAC playoffs as the third seed. The Lakers hosted and won their first postseason game since the 2006-07 season, boasting one of the best defenses in the country for the better part of the season. Under Bruno, Meagan Stover was a First Team All-SUNYAC selection, the first at Oswego State since 2004-05, and also received ECAC Division III Upstate Second Team honors. Bruno also recruited Kayla Ryan, who graduated as a four-time Second Team All-SUNYAC honoree becoming the third player in program history to receive all-conference recognition all four years and ranks third all-time with 1,398 points and ninth all-time with 677 rebounds.

In her debut season, Bruno guided the Lakers to a 15-12 overall mark to qualify for the SUNYAC playoffs. The squad also qualified for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Upstate Tournament, defeating highly regarded St. John Fisher College in the opening round before losing to SUNYAC rival Cortland in the semifinals.

Bruno came to Oswego State after having served as an assistant coach at NCAA Division II Hillsdale College, where she helped lead the Chargers to a 19-9 record in the 2006-07 season and an appearance in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship game. Bruno was responsible for recruiting at Hillsdale, assisting in all areas of on-court coaching in practices and games, coordinating travel, fundraising, and community service, and acquiring and editing game film. She supervised the team's academic progress, and Hillsdale's women's basketball team had the 11th-highest cumulative grade-point average in Division II as recognized by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.

Bruno has other coaching experience in women's basketball and softball at Alpena Community College, as well as experience teaching physical education.

Bruno is a 1994 graduate of Saginaw Valley State University where she was a five-year member of the women's basketball team and a two-year captain. She was selected to all-conference, all-defensive, and all-academic teams throughout her playing career and was a member of a Saginaw Valley State team that played in the NCAA Division II Tournament and advanced to the Sweet 16.

Bruno earned a bachelor's degree in physical and health education, and a master's degree in educational leadership from Eastern Michigan University.  She has continued her education as she graduated from the NCAA Women's Coaches Academy in 2009 and the NACWAA/HERS Institute for Administrative Advancement in 2007.
