Ryan Martin - 2010-11

Ryan Martin

Ryan Martin returns for his fourth season at the helm of the Oswego State men's lacrosse program for the 2014 season after the Lakers posted an overall record of 8-7 in 2013, the second consecutive winning season for Oswego State. Martin’s last two years is the first time Oswego has posted back-to-back winning season since 1996-1997.

In the past three seasons, five players have garnered All-SUNYAC accolades. The 2012 season saw Oswego State defeat nationally-ranked Ithaca College, finding itself in the national ranking for the first time since 1996.

Martin joined the Lakers after having served as the assistant coach at Nazareth College for four seasons. The Amherst, Mass. native served as defensive and recruiting coordinator for the Golden Flyers as well as film coordinator. His efforts helped Nazareth capture the Empire 8 Championship, garnering automatic bids to the NCAA Division III Championship in 2007 and 2009. The team also won an ECAC Championship in 2008.

In four seasons with the Golden Flyers, Martin worked with eight USILA All-Americans, two Empire 8 Conference Players of the Year, and four USILA Scholar All-Americans. Along with his coaching responsibilities, Martin served as the Nazareth intramural director.

He also served as an assistant coach for the North in the 2007 North/South Game in Baltimore, M.D.  In his final season as an assistant at Nazareth, Martin was a finalist for National Division III Assistant Coach of the Year.

Prior to joining the coaching staff at Nazareth, Martin had stints as an assistant coach at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute for the 2006 season and Hampden-Sydney College for the 2005 season. He was responsible for working with goalies and defenses at both institutions, while also serving as the recruiting coordinator at RPI. Martin also served as the interim head coach at RPI during the summer of 2006, continuing the recruiting process and communicating with incoming freshmen and potential recruits.
As a player, Martin was a standout at Ithaca College where he played three seasons in goal for the Bombers and acted as team captain during his junior and senior campaigns. Martin was named Second Team All-Empire 8 as a sophomore before earning First Team his final two seasons. In fact, Martin garnered All-America honors in 2002 and 2003 and was recognized as the Empire 8 Conference Player of the Year in 2002. That same year, Martin helped lead Ithaca to the Final Four.  Martin finished his career by being named to the North/South Game and starting in goal for the North.
A 2003 graduate of Ithaca, Martin earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and received his master's degree in Business Administration from Nazareth in June 2010.
