Plattsburgh defeats Lakers

Plattsburgh scored three goals in a span of less than 10 minutes in the first half propelling the Cardinals to a 5-0 victory over the Oswego State women's soccer team on Saturday, Oct. 16, at the South Athletic Complex.

The win puts Plattsburgh at 12-3 overall and 8-1 in the SUNY Athletic Conference, while the Lakers fell to 5-8-2 and 3-5-1 in the conference.

Gena Rosenbaum (Morrisonville) opened the scoring 10:57 into the game and then made it 2-0 less than five minutes later with her second goal of the contest. Teresa Barber (Mechanicville) increased the Plattsburgh advantage to 3-0 just over three minutes later on an assist from Allison Nelson (Northport).

The Cardinals added one more goal before the intermission as Yvette Rada (Dix Hills) scored with an even two minutes left before the half.

Rosenbaum netted the lone goal of the second half completing the hat trick.

Oswego State goalie Ashlee Distin (Fulton) finished with seven saves.

Joia Aliperti (Commack) and Sara Laroche (Swanton, VT) each played a half in goal and both recorded two saves apiece.

The Lakers round out conference play on Wednesday, Oct. 20, hosting Cortland at 3 p.m.
