The sixth-ranked Oswego State hockey team ran its unbeaten streak to seven games as the Lakers grounded visiting Brockport by the score of 10-3 on Friday, Nov. 12, at Romney Field House.
Oswego State is now a perfect 3-0 in the SUNY Athletic Conference, while improving to 5-0-2 overall. The Golden Eagles fell to 3-3-1 overall and 0-2-1 in the conference.
The Lakers got thing rolling midway through the opening period as Don Patrick (Fulton) scored while on the power play. Just over three minutes later, Oswego State went up 2-0 as Bryan Gent (Milton, ONT) sailed a shot from the point over the shoulder of Brockport goalie Greg Van't Hof (Toronto, ONT).
The Golden Eagles cut the deficit in half at the 15:54 mark as Mark Digby (Fulton) scored his sixth goal of the year. Oswego State wasted no time getting the goal back as Patrick added his second of the game 27 seconds later. The hosts capped the period when Andy Rozak (Mississauga, ONT) cashed in a penalty shot with 1:13 remaining in the opening period.
In the second period, the Lakers continued to find the net scoring three straight goals increasing the advantage to 7-1. Scoring in that span for Oswego State were Jocelyn Dubord (LaChenaie, QUE), Tony DiNunzio (King City, ONT) and C.J. Thompson (Picton, ONT).
A.J. Maio (Rochester) netted Brockport's second goal with Brian Sargent (Wellsville) earning the lone assist.
Paul Perrier (Aurora, ONT) opened the scoring for the Lakers 54 seconds into the third with Brockport getting the goal back just over three minutes later as Brian Bauman (Matawan, NJ) scored.
Rozak and Dubord each added a goal in the final 13 minutes capping the lopsided win for the Lakers.
Goalie Brett Leonhardt (Waterloo) earned the win for Oswego State with 17 saves, while Van't Hof finished with 40 saves for the Golden Eagles.
The Lakers will be right back in action on Saturday, Nov. 13, hosting conference opponent Geneseo at Romney Field House at 7 p.m.
