Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute scored five goals in the second half to break a scoreless tie as the Red Hawks defeated Oswego State 5-0 on Thursday, September 2nd at the South Athletic Complex.
The Red Hawks (1-0) opened the scoring just 3:48 into the second half as Elisa Prange (Arlington, VA) netted her first goal of the year. RPI doubled the lead less than six minutes later as Michelle Clemente (Rensselaer) netted her first of two goals in the game.
Clemente made it 3-0 later in the half before the Red Hawks sealed the win with a pair of goals in the final 10 minutes. Laurie Young (Blossvale) scored the first of those goals with Sondra Sherman (Gaithersburg, MD) capping the scoring with 3:12 remaining.
Oswego State goalie Ashley Perkins (Oneida) finished with 16 saves.
In goal for RPI, Jen O'Neil (Derry, NH) had three saves and Liz Szewczak (Enfield, CT) did not face a shot in 19 minutes of action.
The Lakers will be home again on Saturday, September 4th hosting the University of Rochester at 1 p.m.
