Laker men defeat Fredonia 68-56

Coming off of their first loss of the season, the Oswego State men's basketball responded in fine fashion beating Fredonia 68-56 on Friday, Jan. 14, at Laker Hall.

Dave Ponza (Solvay) led the charge for Oswego State as the senior scored 20 points becoming third player in program history to eclipse 1,500 career points. Ponza, who shot 10-of-15 from the floor, now has 1,506 points in a Laker uniform.

Nicholas Perioli (Liverpool) had a balanced game with 16 points and eight assists, while Mat Burridge (Hannibal) added 14 points and nine rebounds. Ahmad Mims (North Syracuse) grabbed a game high 14 rebounds.

For Fredonia, Taha Alassari (Amherst) scored 13 points, Tim Anderson (Jamestown) added 12 and Mike Kelly (Corning) chipped in with 10.

The Lakers are now 11-1 on the season and 3-1 in conference play. The Blue Devils squared their record at 6-6 overall and 2-2 in the SUNYAC.

Oswego State will take on Buffalo State on Saturday in a 4 p.m. start.
