The Oswego State hockey team scored twice in both the second and third periods to secure a 5-3 win over visiting Potsdam at Romney Field House on Friday, Jan. 28.
The victory puts the eighth-ranked Lakers at 7-2 in the SUNY Athletic Conference and 14-3-3 overall. The loss knocked the Bears to 7-12-1 overall and to 3-6 in the conference.
After the teams traded goals in the opening period, Oswego State netted the only two goals in the middle period to grab a 3-1 advantage.
Kevin Tracey (Mississauga, ONT) netted his second of the season 3:22 into the second before
Jocelyn Dubord (LeChanie, QUE) scored his second of the game midway through. With those two goals, Dubord raised his team-leading total to 16.
Don Patrick (Fulton) earned an assist on each of the team's three goals.
In the third,
Tony DiNunzio (King City, ONT) made it 4-1 with a shorthanded goal 1:45 into the period, but Potsdam got the goal right back scoring on the same penalty. Mark Stewart (Ottawa, ONT) cashed in on the power play and the tacked on another just over two minutes later.
Oswego State quickly regrouped as
Jean-Simon Richard (Lorraine, QUE) netted his ninth of the season on the power play on a nice feed from
Gary Bowman (Evansville, WY).
Potsdam pulled goalie Vince Cuccaro (Ottawa, ONT) for the final 1:23, but were able to cut into the Laker lead.

Ryan Scott (Williamsville) made 26 saves to improve to 7-2-1 on the season.
Cuccaro also finished with 26 saves for the Bears.
The Lakers return action on tomorrow, Jan. 29, hosting conference rival Plattsburgh at 7 p.m.
