The Oswego State men's basketball team kept its perfect record in tact as the Lakers pulled away from St. Lawrence in the second half for a 76-67 victory on Friday, Jan. 7, at Laker Hall.
Oswego State is now 10-0 on the season, while the Saints dropped to 2-7.
The Lakers held a 39-35 lead at the break and then used a 14-4 run to open the second half and never let St. Lawrence get back to within single digits.
Oswego State received a big game from center Mat Burridge (Hannibal) as the sophomore netted 21 points. Nicholas Perioli (Liverpool) added 15 points and five assists, while Todd Franze (Westfield) contributed with 14 points. Dave Ponza (Solvay) recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
St. Lawrence's Aaron Marshall (Buffalo) led all scorers with 25 points and rebounders with 13. Keith Sullivan (Brooklyn) chipped in with 14 points for the Saints.
The Lakers return to SUNY Athletic Conference play on Tuesday, Jan. 11, as they head to Plattsburgh for an 8 p.m. start. Oswego State is 2-0 in conference play and defeated the Cardinals on their home floor back in November by the score of 68-62 in the title game of the Cardinal Tip-Off Classic.
