The Oswego State field hockey team defeated Hartwick 1-0 Saturday at Laker Field.  The win knocked the Hawks out of contention for the NCAA tournament.

The Lakers' lone goal was tallied at the 12:30 mark by freshman Chelsea Mayo (Scotia, NY/Niskayuna) off a pass from junior Danielle Alberti (Auburn, NY/Auburn) from the bottom right side of the circle. The Laker defense and outstanding play of senior goalie Ashley Perkins (Oneida, NY/Oneida) proved to be too much for Hartwick.  The Hawks were unable to answer the score for the remainder of the game.  The win puts Oswego at 2-11-0 overall, with two games remaining on the schedule.  The momentum is crucial as the Lakers face Nazareth College on Monday. Game time is 3 p.m. at Laker Field.
