The Oswego State men's basketball team won the four-team 2005 Max Ziel Classic basketball invitational they hosted this weekend.
The Lakers now 2-0, defeated York College Friday evening, and overpowered Skidmore College in the championship game on Saturday.
Oswego boasted 158 points on the weekend, outscoring their opponents by a total of 34 points. The Lakers defeated a tough CUNY York College team Friday evening 81-69. Oswego met Skidmore College in the championship game the following night and dismantled the Thoroughbreds with a brutal half-court attack to win 77-55.
The Lakers were lead by senior Ahmad Mims (Syracuse, NY/CNS) tournament MVP. Mims ended the weekend with 32 points, one assist, 10 rebounds, six blocks and seven steals.
Juniors Todd Franze (Westfield, NY/Westfield) and Mat Burridge (Oswego, NY/Hannibal each had 24 points. Franze compiled six assists and 10 rebounds, while Burridge had 15 rebounds and two assists.
Oswego will play again next Wednesday, Nov. 30, as they travel to take on Cazenovia College.
