Lakers beat Fredonia

The Oswego State men's basketball team made some clutch baskets in the second half of a defensive battle and earned a win over visiting Fredonia 58-54 on Friday, Jan. 27 at Max Ziel Gymnasium in Oswego.

Fredonia led 23-21 at halftime and scored the first two baskets of the second half to take a six-point lead. Oswego State scored the next seven points to pull ahead and went on to the victory.

Junior guard Nick Perioli (Liverpool/Liverpool) led the Lakers in scoring with 16 points. He made two key 3-pointers in the second half. Mat Burridge (Hannibal/Hannibal) had 10 points and scored on a turnaround jumper to put the Lakers in front by five points with 4:10 left. Burridge also added eight rebounds.

The Blue Devils were led by Taha Alassari with 19 points. Devin Watkins added 12.

Oswego State maintains its first place standing in the SUNYAC with a 9-1 conference mark. The Lakers are 15-3 overall. Fredonia fell to 3-6 in the SUNYAC and 8-9 overall.
