First-half goal propels Dragons to win over Oswego State

The Oswego State women's soccer team lost a 1-0 game against SUNYAC rival Cortland on Wednesday afternoon in Oswego.

The Lakers started strongly, but Cortland's Andrea Marino scored the only goal of the match in the 27th minute. Marino controlled a loose ball inside of the six-yard box and evaded an Oswego State defender and goalkeeper Melissa Hacknauer to score from close range.

Oswego State controlled possession for the opening 10 minutes of the contest and forced two saves from Cortland goalie Megan Thayer. She finished the day with four saves and recorded a shutout.

Cortland outshot Oswego State 19-7 but Oswego State held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.

The Lakers fell to 1-14-0 on the season and 1-9-0 overall, while Cortland improved to 8-6-1 and 6-3-1 in the conference.
