Oswego State sophomore forward
Stephanie Esposito scored with 7:29 left in the third period to give the Lakers a 3-3 tie against the visiting Cortland Red Dragons on Sunday afternoon at the Campus Center Ice Arena. Oswego State trailed three times in the game, but rallied to tie on each occasion.
The goal was Esposito's third of the season, with assists from captain Jessica Lister and defenseman Aprilyn Gush. Lister also scored a goal for the Lakers. Jessica O'Grady scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season for Oswego State in the second period.
Cailin O'Hara opened the scoring for Cortland in the first period. Erin Fleury and Kalee Stoever also scored for the Red Dragons, who were playing their first game of the season.
Cortland goaltender Kristin Taylor had 43 saves in the game, including in eight in overtime as the Lakers pressed for the game-winning goal while on the power play. Oswego State's Hilary Hitchman had 22 saves.
The Lakers are 2-0-1 overall and 0-0-1 in the ECAC Women's West. Oswego State will continue league play next weekend at Buffalo State on Saturday and Sunday.
