Blowout win for Oswego State

The Oswego State men's basketball team wasted no time in establishing a huge lead and routed visiting New Paltz 76-52 on Friday at Max Ziel Gymnasium.

Senior Ahmad Mims put an exclamation point on Oswego State's fast start with a dunk with 9:40 remaining in the first half that gave the Lakers a 35-5 lead. The Lakers never looked back. Oswego State's largest lead was 34 points, at 63-29 with 12:29 remaining in the second half when Kyle Reuter hit a 3-pointer.

The scoring was distributed evenly for the Lakers as Nick Perioli led the way with 16 points and added eight assists. Todd Franze and Mat Burridge had 15 points each and Reuter added 10. Burridge led the way with nine rebounds and Mims had eight points, five steals, and six rebounds. Oswego State shot 54 percent from the field in the win.

John Hauser led all scorers with 22 points for New Paltz. Matt Irwin added 13.

Oswego State hosts Oneonta on Saturday at 4 p.m. Senior Ahmad Mims will be recognized prior to the start of the game.
