The Plattsburgh Cardinals scored the last six goals of the game and defeated Oswego State 6-3 in Game One of a SUNYAC hockey semifinal series at Romney Field House on Friday.
Five of Plattsburgh's six goals came in the third period. The teams will play again at 7 p.m. Saturday in Oswego. Plattsburgh will win the series with a win or a tie. If Oswego State wins, a mini-game will be played to determine the winner of the series.
Ben Kemp and C.J. Tozzo each had a goal and an assist in the Plattsburgh win. Mike Thomson, Deryk Whitehead, David Friel, and Nick Rolls also scored. Bryan North and Ryan Busby had two assists each.
Rick Varone scored twice for the Lakers and Matt Whitehead also scored for Oswego State.
Craig Neilson made 22 saves for Plattsburgh and Ryan Scott made 26 saves for Oswego State.
The Cardinals are now 17-10-1 on the year. Oswego State fell to 18-6-2.
