The Oswego State women's basketball team lost to Baldwin-Wallace 73-69 in the first round of the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship on Friday at B-W's Ursprung Gymnasium in Berea, Ohio.
The host Yellow Jackets, ranked 12th nationally by D3hoops.com, never led more than seven points in the game. There were eight ties, and the score was knotted at 66-66 with 3:26 remaining on a layup by Laker sophomore Sarah Lombard. Baldwin-Wallace went on to score the next seven points in the game to seal the victory. Oswego State's only basket down the stretch was a 3-pointer by Kelly Mraz with seven seconds remaining.
Samantha Driscoll led the Lakers with 19 points. Sarah Lombard scored 14, Kelly Mraz had 12 points and Lacey Kimpland added 11.
The Lakers were just 3-for-8 from the foul line in the game and B-W was 9-for-12.
Baldwin-Wallace will play William Smith College in the second round, and Oswego State ends its season with a 21-7 record.
