Ithaca beats Oswego State in championship

The Oswego State men's basketball team lost to Ithaca College 61-60 Saturday in the championship game of the ECAC Upstate Tournament held in Oswego.

The tournament's most valuable player, Jeff Bostic of Ithaca, scored the game-winning shot with 7.2 seconds remaining in the game. Those were just two of Bostic's 16 points on the night. He also grabbed 13 rebounds for his second double-double of the tournament.

Laker guard Nick Perioli drove the lane and converted on a layup which gave Oswego State the lead with just 26 seconds left. On the ensuing possession, Ithaca's Jim Bellis drove to the basket but couldn't convert. Bostic grabbed the rebound and laid it in with just over seven seconds left. Perioli's shot at the buzzer fell short.

The Lakers struggled in the first half as they shot 5-for-26 from the field, and ended the first 20 minutes of play down 30-19.  Senior captain Ahmad Mims led all scorers with 24 points in the game, including a jumper with 8:38 left in the second half to give the Lakers their first lead of the game.

The Lakers ended the season with a 22-8 overall record, and the Bombers finished at 16-13.
