Second-half defense leads Lakers

The Oswego State women's basketball team allowed just 11 points in the second half and rallied for a 50-42 win over Oneonta on Friday night.

The Lakers trailed 31-19 at halftime but quickly erased the 12-point deficit by starting the second half with a 21-2 run. Oswego State allowed just one Oneonta field goal in the first 13 minutes of the half.

Lyndsey Marquit and Samantha Driscoll led Oswego State with 12 points each. Kelly Mraz added 11 points and five assists. Jessica Tremblay had 13 rebounds to lead all players in that statistic.

The win gave Oswego State a 12-3 overall mark and a 6-1 record in the SUNYAC. Oneonta is now 11-4, and 4-3 in the conference.

The Lakers face Cortland on Saturday at 6 p.m. It is the first meeting between the teams since last year's SUNYAC championship game, which Oswego State won 61-56.
