The Oswego State women's basketball team lost 60-58 against Cortland on Friday night at Max Ziel Gymnasium in Oswego.
The Lakers had possession, trailing by one point in the closing seconds, but a charging foul against the attacking player with two seconds left ended the comeback effort. Lyndsey Marquit scored 12 points to pace the Oswego State scorers, with Samantha Driscoll adding 11 points and three crucial free throws late in the game, and Kelly Mraz scored 10 points.
Cortland's Sara Cavanaugh had 23 points to lead all scorers in the game, and Jessica Laing added 13.
Oswego State is now 12-5 overall and 6-3 in the SUNYAC. Cortland remained undefeated in the SUNYAC with an 8-0 conference mark, and is now 15-1 overall.
The Lakers return to action Saturday night at Potsdam.
