Hot-shooting second-half propels St. Lawrence past Oswego State

The Oswego State men's basketball team lost 80-76 to St. Lawrence on Saturday evening at Max Ziel Gymnasium in Oswego.

The visiting Saints shot 64.3 percent from the field in the second half, making 18 of 28 field-goal attempts, and won a close game. Oswego State held an early lead in the first 10 minutes of the game, but it was close throughout after that.

Oswego State's Todd Franze led all scorers in the game with 23 points, and he scored the first 11 points of the night for the Lakers. Kyle Reuter added 14 points, Erik Roberson scored 11 and Mahamoud Jabbi scored 10. It was Oswego State's fourth consecutive loss, and all four have been by four points or less. The Lakers are 5-5 on the year.

St. Lawrence had five players score in double-figures, led by Tyler Shaver with 18 and Richard Williams with 17. Tom Wopperer (13), Ben Augliano (11), and Bela Vonnak (10) also contributed for the Saints, who remained undefeated on the season and are now 10-0.

Oswego State returns to SUNYAC play when the Lakers host Plattsburgh on Tuesday at 8 p.m. at Ziel Gym.
