Oswego State wins eighth straight game

The Oswego State women's basketball team won its eighth straight game and maintained its perfect SUNYAC record with a 71-53 win over Plattsburgh on Tuesday night in Oswego.

All five starters scored in double-figures for Oswego State, led by 13 points from Kelly Mraz. Jessica Tremblay and Sarah Lombard scored 12 points each, and Lombard added 12 rebounds. Lacey Kimpland and Lyndsey Marquit each had 10 points.

The Lakers, now 3-0 in the SUNYAC and 9-2 overall, shook off a sluggish start to the game to pull away for an 18-point victory. Plattsburgh's Molly Harte made a free throw with 4:29 left to make the score 21-19 in favor of Oswego State, but the Lakers closed the half with an 11-2 run to take an 11-point lead into the halftime intermission.

Plattsburgh's balanced scoring included nine points each from Lynette Cray and Megan Lynch, and eight points from Casey Clark. Jessica Dooley, Debbie Davis, and Shoshana Harris scored six points each. The Cardinals are now 2-8 overall and 0-3 in the SUNYAC.

Oswego State returns to action Friday at Fredonia, then plays Saturday afternoon at Buffalo State.
