The Buffalo State Bengals defeated Oswego State 1-0 in women's soccer action on Saturday afternoon in Oswego.
The Bengals took the lead in the sixth minute as leading scorer Barb Kiliszek headed in a corner delivered by Kelsie Moran. That was the only scoring in the game.
Oswego State had two scoring opportunites in the second half. The first saw Tricia Sullivan played through on net early in the first half, but Bengal goalkeeper Meghan Jarrell came off her line to take the ball away from Sullivan. In the 82nd minute, Morgan Vrydaghs beat the Buffalo State defense and shot wide from inside of the penalty area.
Laker goalie Toby Klein made eight saves in the contest and Buffalo State's Jarrell had five saves.
The Lakers are now 4-6-1 overall and 4-2-1 in the SUNYAC. Buffalo State is 5-8-0 on the year and 3-4-0 in the SUNYAC.
Oswego State hosts Cazenovia on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
