The Oswego State women's ice hockey team lost 9-0 to the visiting Plattsburgh Cardinals on Saturday at the Campus Center Ice Arena in Oswego.
The Cardinals are the defending national champions and are currently ranked first in the USCHO.com Division III Women's Poll, and their impressive team controlled play throughout the game. They were 4-for-5 on the power play and also scored two short-handed goals.
Laurie Bowler and Danielle Blanchard each had two goals and two assists for Plattsburgh, while Claire O'Connor and Stephanie Moberg had three points each. Amber Ellis and Lindsay Brown also had goals for the Cardinals. Goalie Mandy Mackrell made 13 saves in her first start of the season and earned the shutout.
Ashley Meyers had three shots on goal to lead the Lakers and Jessica Lister had two shots. The Lakers were 0-for-10 on the power play in the game. Hilary Hitchman started and made 27 saves in the first two periods. Erin Robson played the third period and stopped 15 shots.
Oswego State is now 2-4-0 overall this season and 0-4-0 in the ECAC Women's West. Plattsburgh is 4-0-0 on the year, and all of their games have been in the conference.
