The Oswego State men's ice hockey team scored three power-play goals and defeated Buffalo State 4-2 on Friday night at the Campus Center Ice Arena.
Oswego State scored a power-play goal in each of the first and second periods to take a 2-0 lead after 40 minutes. Garren Reisweber scored midway through the first on assists from Tony DiNunzio and Matt Whitehead to give Oswego State the lead. Francois Gagnon tallied late in the second on assists from Tyler Laws and DiNunzio to double the advantage.
Buffalo State's Joe Curry scored an unassisted goal four minutes into the third period to make the score 2-1, but Reisweber added his second of the game and fourth of the season with 7:05 remaining to give the Lakers a three-goal lead.
The Bengals' Kerry Barchan answered quickly at the 13:34 mark, but just 11 seconds later, Oswego State's Derrell Levy scored his first of the season on an assist from Chris Laganiere to re-establish the Lakers' two-goal lead and account for the final score.
Buffalo State goalie Travis Moore had 29 saves in the contest, and Ryan Scott made 25 saves for the Lakers.
It improved Oswego State's record to 5-3-1 on the year, and the Lakers are now 5-1-0 in SUNY Athletic Conference play. Buffalo State is now 2-7-2 overall and 1-3-2 in the SUNYAC.
The win by Scott was the 50th of his Oswego State career and he is now tied for second all-time in goaltending victories for the Lakers.
Oswego State hosts Fredonia on Saturday at 7 p.m.
