The Oswego State women's basketball team lost 67-48 to the New York University Violets on Tuesday night in a non-league game at Max Ziel Gymnasium.
The visiting Violets are ranked fifth in the latest USA Today/ESPN Division III Coaches Poll, and pulled away to outscore Oswego State 16-3 over the last seven minutes of the game en route to the win.
NYU is now 6-0 on the season and Oswego State fell to 3-2.
The Lakers used strong rebounding in the first half to keep the game close, and trailed 27-25 at half.
The Violets started the second half with a 12-0 run to push the lead into double figures before the Lakers rallied back to whittle the lead to six, but NYU put the game away down the stretch.
Senior Sam Driscoll made three 3-pointers and finished the game with 14 points to lead Oswego State. Sarah Lombard scored 12 points. Alaina Hannahs had six assists and 11 rebounds.
NYU was led by All-American Jessica McEntee, who scored 18 points and has a game-high 12 rebounds.
Oswego State returns to action on Thursday at home, when the Lakers host Clarkson at 6 p.m. at Ziel Gymnasium.
