The Oswego State men's basketball team lost to Plattsburgh 89-73 in a SUNYAC semifinal on Friday evening at Brockport.
After trailing for most of the game, the Lakers took a 62-61 lead with 10:37 in the game on a free throw by Erik Roberson but Plattsburgh scored the next nine points as part of a 19-4 run to build an 80-66 lead with 2:41 left to play and went on to the victory.
Roberson led Oswego State with 25 points. Tom Downing scored 13 and Mat Burridge chipped in with 10.
The Lakers forced 20 Plattsburgh turnovers and had 13 steals, but the Cardinals shot 59 percent from the field and made 17-of-20 free-throw attempts in the game. Plattsburgh's Travis Gorham led all scorers with 30 points, Anthony Williams added 23, and Khylan Hunt scored 21.
The Lakers are now 15-12 on the season and will await word on a possible ECAC Upstate Tournament bid. Plattsburgh is 19-8 and will play in the SUNYAC Championship on Saturday afternoon against the winner of the second semifinal between Brockport and SUNYIT.
