The Oswego State men's basketball team defeated RIT 74-63 on Wednesday night in an ECAC Upstate Tournament game at Max Ziel Gymnasium.
Kyle Reuter led Oswego State with 21 points, Mat Burridge added 16, and Tom Downing added 14 for the Lakers. Oswego State advances to the semifinals of the tournament, which will be held Friday at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie.
Oswego State led by 12 points at halftime but RIT whittled the lead down to just one point in the second half, a run that was capped by a pair of free-throws by Rob Hampton to make it a 45-44 Laker advantage. A 16-6 run followed for Oswego State and the lead returned to double figures. The Lakers had just eight turnovers in the game.
RIT was led by Tim Bacon with 25 points and 14 rebounds. Scott Young had 17 points. RIT made just 13 of 28 free-throw attempts.
Oswego State is 16-12 on the season and will face conference foe SUNYIT in the semifinals at 7 p.m. Friday. Vassar will take on Ithaca in the other semifinal at 5 p.m. Saturday's championship game will begin at 2 p.m.
