First-half flurry by Oneonta defeats Lakers in women's soccer

The Oneonta Red Dragons women's soccer team extended its SUNYAC unbeaten streak to 96 games with a 4-1 win over Oswego State on Saturday afternoon in Oneonta.

The Red Dragons got off to a fast start with four first-half goals, including one just 1:35 into the contest. Kirsten Clapper scored three of Oneonta's four goals, and Christine Marra had the other. Mary Velan had an assist for Oneonta.

Oswego State scored in the 77th minute. Tricia Sullivan scored her third goal of the season on an assist from Amy Hedlund. Hedlund made a soft pass to Sullivan inside the box past an Oneonta defender. Sullivan took the pass and was all alone with the keeper and blasted a shot into the left corner of the goal.

Laker goalie Toby Klein had 12 saves on the afternoon.

Oswego State is 0-4-0 on the year and 0-1-0 in the SUNYAC.
