The Oswego State women's soccer team defeated Morrisville 3-0 on Friday afternoon at Lemery Field in Morrisville. The Lakers earned their first win of the season and impressively fired 53 shots toward the Mustangs' net.
Oswego State is now 1-4-0 on the season and 1-1-0 in the SUNYAC. Morrisville is 0-7-1 overall and 0-2-0 in the conference.
The Lakers opened the scoring in the 32nd minute on a goal by Kim Mayer, assisted by Julie McCloskey. It was Mayer's first goal of the season. Meghan Miller scored early in the second half for Oswego State on an assist from Morgan Vrydaghs, and then Mayer added her second goal of the contest with five minutes left in the game, scoring on a corner kick that was delivered by Tricia Sullivan.
Toby Klein earned her first shutout for the Lakers and made zero saves.
The Lakers held a 53-2 shots advantage in the contest and 25 of Oswego State's shot attempts were on net. Morrisville goalie Katie Tiffany made 22 saves. The Lakers also held a 20-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Oswego State returns to the field on Saturday by playing at SUNYIT at 1 p.m.
