The Oswego State women's soccer team defeated Plattsburgh 3-0 on Saturday at Laker Field. Oswego State has won four consecutive games, and is 4-4-0 overall and 4-1-0 in SUNYAC play.
Morgan Vrydaghs opened the scoring for Oswego State in the first half, with an assist from Julie McCloskey in the fifth minute of the game. Vrydaghs scored a close-range goal from the right side.
Tricia Sullivan scored twice in the second half, the first was assisted by Vrydaghs who played Sullivan through the Plattsburgh defense and Sullivan chipped Cardinal goalkeeper Kathryn Lind in the 50th minute. Sullivan added an insurance tally in a similar manner in the 78th minute. That goal was assisted by Mary Spuhler.
Toby Klein earned the shutout for the Lakers with three saves. Plattsburgh outshot Oswego State 25-9 but Klein and the Oswego State defenders frequently re-directed Plattsburgh's shots before they reached the net.
Plattsburgh is now 8-2-0 overall and 3-2-0 in the SUNYAC.
With four wins, Oswego State now has eight points in the SUNYAC standings and trails only first-place Oneonta.
The Lakers return to action Tuesday at RIT, at 4 p.m.
