Lakers lose by four at Geneseo

The Oswego State women's basketball team lost 60-56 at Geneseo on Saturday afternoon in a SUNYAC contest.

Sam Driscoll led Oswego State with 17 points and Sarah Lombard added nine points and eight rebounds in a close loss for the Lakers.

The Lakers led for most of the first half, but the Blue Knights closed the half with a 20-7 run to take a 30-26 lead at the break. Geneseo stretched its lead to as many as 16 points in the second half but the Lakers fought back with a 23-7 run to tie the score at 53-53 with 3:40 remaining.

Geneseo scored the last four points of the game on a basket by Khadija Campbell and a pair of free throws from Annie Verdino, who led the Blue Knights with 18 points.

Rachel Kohrs and Heather Merino each scored seven points for the Lakers.

Oswego State is now 5-8 overall and 1-5 in the SUNYAC. The Lakers host a non-conference game on Tuesday night, welcoming Utica to Max Ziel Gymnasium at 6 p.m.
