The Oswego State women's ice hockey team defeated Cortland 3-2 in the third-place game of the Codfish Bowl in Boston on Sunday afternoon.
Ashley Meyers scored the game-winning goal with 7:54 remaining in the third period to give Oswego State the victory. The Lakers led 1-0 and 2-1 but Cortland rallied to tie the game each time.
Oswego State opened the scoring in the first period as Jessica Lister scored on assists from Stephanie Esposito and Aprilyn Gush, but Cortland tied the score on a power-play goal by Jeanna Dippel.
In the second period, the Lakers took the lead again as Jenna Kirkwood scored on a power play, assisted by Gillian Toneguzzo and Erica Shapey.
Meyers' game-winner was assisted by Shapey, and the Lakers are now 3-7-1 on the season.
Hilary Hitchman made 15 saves in goal and earned the win. Oswego State outshot Cortland 34-17 in the game. Lister was named to the all-tournament team.
