Oswego drops season finale, 2-1, on late goal in second half

   Host Ithaca College scored the winning goal with 2:10 remaining in the second half, registering a 2-1 victory over the Oswego State field hockey team in the season-finale for the Lakers on Saturday, Oct. 25.

The Bombers (7-8) scored the game's opening goal at 12:46 as Christine Franz scored unassisted from the top of the circle. Oswego evened the score more than two-minutes later when junior Eileen O'Neill (New City/Clarkstown South) took a pass from Kelly Collins (Fairport) and put a shot past Ithaca goalie Courtney Dowell at 15:35.

The Bombers tacked on the game winner at 67:50 when Elyse Green scored off of a deflected penalty corner attempt. Ithaca held an overwhelming advantage in shots (29-7) and penalty corners (23-3).

Laker goalie Jamie Scharfe (Webster/Webster Thomas) made 12 saves, while Dowdell of of Ithaca stopped two shots.
