Samantha Driscoll scored 15 points to lead Oswego State past host Buffalo State 56-46 in the SUNYAC regular season finale today at the Buffalo State Sports Arena. The Lakers are now 14-10 overall and have won five straight games. They finished the conference season with a 9-7 record and will play a quarterfinal game on the road Tuesday at an opponent to be determined.
Sarah Lombard supplied 13 points and 10 rebounds off the bench for the Lakers, and Alaina Hannahs added 12 points.
Lindsay Smith led the Bengals with 14 points. Barb Kiliszek had 10 points and six steals, and Shareese Hamer had eight points and 11 boards.
The teams traded runs in the first half. Buffalo State jumped out to an 11-5 advantage, before the Lakers mounted a 15-0 run to lead by as many as nine. The Bengals answered with a 10-0 run of their own, however, and trailed just 26-25 at the intermission. The game stayed close in the second half and was knotted at 43-43 with 3:50 remaining, but the Lakers outscored the Bengals, 13-3 down the stretch.
