The Oswego State men's basketball team defeated Potsdam 71-56 in a SUNYAC Quarterfinal game on Tuesday night at Max Ziel Gymnasium in Oswego. With the victory, Oswego State advances to the SUNYAC semifinals against Brockport, to be held in Plattsburgh on Friday at 6 p.m.
The Lakers held a 10-point lead at halftime and saw Potsdam narrow the lead to six points midway through the second half, but Tommy Downing hit back-to-back 3-pointers for Oswego State to re-establish a double-figure lead and the Lakers never looked back.
Downing led all Laker scorers with 22 points as all five Oswego State starters scored in double figures. Nick Perioli and Mahamoud Jabbi had 12 points each and Kyle Reuter and Dom White each scored 10. Jabbi also had 12 rebounds and four blocked shots in the game.
Potsdam was led by 18 points from Alvin Dike and 15 points by Tim Reinhardt.
