Jabbi leads Lakers to ECAC Upstate Tournament win

Mahamoud Jabbi scored 25 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and blocked six shots as the Oswego State men's basketball team defeated Cazenovia 85-69 in an ECAC Upstate Tournament game on Wednesday at Max Ziel Gymnasium in Oswego. With his six blocked shots, Jabbi now has 77 rejections for the season, and set the single-season Oswego State record in that category. He surpassed the 72 blocked shots recorded by current assistant coach Ahmad Mims in the 2005-06 season.

Oswego State advances to the semifinal round on Saturday. The Lakers will face Cortland at 6 p.m. at SUNY Brockport, the top seed and host of the tournament's final four.

Nick Perioli added 19 points, eight assists, and five rebounds playing in the final home game of his illustrious Oswego State career. Kyle Reuter added 15 points.

Cazenovia was paced by a Eric Latendress with 21 points. Erik Sauer added 10 points in the defeat. Tom Wilk was the Wildcats' leading rebounder with 12 boards in the game. He also blocked three shots.

Oswego State is now 21-7 on the year, while Cazenovia fell to 14-14 with the loss.
