Oswego State drops 4-2 decision to Utica College

Despite a valliant effort in the final 15 minutes of the game, the Oswego State field hockey team dropped its second game of the season in a 4-2 loss to Utica College on Friday, September 5 at Laker Field. 

The Pioneers (1-3) ran off three goals in a ten minute span (from 13:17 to 23:32) to take a 3-0 halftime lead. Utica added its fourth goal at the 46:22 mark in the second half on an unassisted goal from Avion Candice Ashton, who led all scorers with two goals.

Oswego picked up its first goal at 53:39 on an unassisted goal from sophomore Brittany Roetzer (Akron, NY/Akron) and scored again with 1:51 left on the clock on a goal from junior co-captain Kimm Hiffa  (Holland, NY/Holland-Patent). Freshman Kelly Collins (Fairport, NY/Fairport) picked up the assist, her second of the season.

The Lakers will play their third game in four days on Saturday when they travel to New Paltz for their SUNYAC opener at 1:00 p.m.
