The Oswego State field hockey team yielded a pair of goals in the game's opening ten minutes en route to a 6-2 loaa to SUNY Brockport in a non-league contest on Monday, Sept. 8 at Brockport.
The game, picked up as an extra game to complete the schedule, will not count towards the SUNYAC standings. Both teams will meet in Oswego on October 9 in a regularly-scheduled SUNYAC contest.
The Golden Eagles, who came into the game undefeated at 3-0, scored the opening two goals, the first coming on a penalty stroke at 7:58, before the Lakers got on the board on a goal from Brittany Roetzer (Akron) at 12:30. Brockport added two more goals to take a 4-1 advantage into the half and scored 10 minutes into the second half on its second penalty stroke of the game to increase the lead.
Oswego scored its second goal of the game at 50:19 on a goal from Katie Mazuchowski (Tonawanda/Sweet Home), before Brockport finished the scoring with a third penalty-stroke goal with 6:07 to play in the game.
The Laker defense faced 38 shots from Brockport, with sophomore Jamie Scharfe (Webster/Webster Schroeder) stopping 24 of them.
