BUFFALO, NY— Oswego State connected on 21 of 28 free throws, including 15 of 19 in the second half, in winning their third straight SUNYAC game in a 57-46 triumph over host Buffalo State this afternoon at the Sports Arena.
Senior Heather Merino (Queensbury/Lake George) paced Oswego (7-7, 5-1 SUNYAC) with 17 points. Sophomore Colleen McCready (Pittsford/Pittsford-Mendon) added 12 points and six rebounds off the bench. Freshman Kayla Ryan (Schaghticoke/Hoosick Valley) notched a "double-double" with 11 points and 12 boards and addeda career-high five steals, and Sophomore Traci Bacon (Massena/Massena) scored 11 points with seven rebounds.
Barb Kiliszek (Depew/Lancaster) led the Bengals with 14 points. Shareese Hamer (Erie, PA/Strong Vincent) and Jessica Clark (Fulton/G. Ray Bodley) added 10 points each.
Oswego held Buffalo State scoreless for a stretch of more than six minutes and led at halftime, 25-16. The Bengals cut the deficit to five early in the second half, but the Lakers pulled away again and never let Buffalo State back within two possessions.
