Eric Selleck (Shanley, ONT) scored two goals and senior forward
Ryan Ellis (Georgetown, ONT) added two assists as the Lakers defeated Buffalo State, 4-3, in a SUNYAC matchup at the Campus Center Arena on Saturday, Jan. 31.
Selleck, the top rookie scorer in the conference, and Ellis are both on a three-game point streak for Oswego State (14-5-1, 8-2-1 SUNYAC) after their respective two-point nights. Junior goaltender Tim Potter (Bakersfield, CA) registered his sixth consecutive win for the Lakers, stopping 23 of 26 shots.
Brad Dormiedy (Ajax, ONT) and Matt Whitehead (Newmarket, ONT) rounded out the scoring for the Lakers, who remain perfect in 2009 with a 6-0 record.
Sophomore forward Nicholas Petriello (St. Catherines, ONT) scored the game's opening goal at 13:29 of the first period, before Oswego State answered with four consecutive goals. Selleck registered back-to-back goals at 8:49 and 19:30 of the second period. The Lakers' last goal came at 11:23 of the third period as Whitehead scored the game-winner.
The Bengals scored the game's final two goals late in the third period, the first coming on the power play from junior Ryan Ramage (Ft. Erie, ONT). Senior forward Jason Hill (Niagara Falls, NY) netted a goal with four seconds remaining and the Buffalo State net empty.
Bengals goaltender Alan Fritch (Saginaw, MI) turned away 35 shots in the loss for the Bengals (8-10-3, 3-6-3 SUNYAC).
